Judy Chicago is a part of the art feminist movement, and made a series of provocative and beautiful pieces of art. She is also a writer, with lots of works published in books across the world, making it more accessible to people across the world.
At the exhibition I went to, her pieces ranged from photography to paintings, to drawings, and short films. All of it ranged from 1968 -1974, including her garden smoke work, videos of her “atmospheres'', and of cour se a short news video, declaring that her piece, “The Dinner Party” was sexually explicit and should not be on a permanent collection at the university of california in fresno. The dinner party was made of rows of tables, implying that 50 women in history were sitting there. To match that, there were 50 plates, and painted on them were surrealist images of female genitalia.

Her pyrokinetic firework pieces were site specific within California, and consisted of fireworks and smoke grenades being set off in patterns, making a beautiful end piece to be photographed. She also constructed a 200 feet tall butterfly which had a 17 minute life cycle, beginning with it being lit up, then raising it, then the sun came up over it and it was extinguished.
Her garden smoke works consisted of smoke grenades which were lighted then photographed in natural environments.
